This course illustrates theories of planning in the present world, providing a basic tool kit for planning in the contemporary urban environment. During the course, the urban environment will be explored in its physical, social and economic dimensions through three contextual phases:

• The urban environment as it was
• The urban environment as it is
• The urban environment as it can be

Students will interact based on provided readings and class work. Students' knowledge will be assessed in attendance, tests class work results and interaction during the class.
