The course aims to provide students with the fundamental skills and tools to address the design of urban open spaces. The course will in fact propose a series of individual and group activities aimed at building and strengthening those analytical, critical, interpretative, creative skills of representation and communicative synthesis considered essential to manage the complexity of urban landscapes and orient their transformations at different spatial scales through landscape design. In this context, the laboratory pays particular attention to the expressive and performative character of public space, to urban regeneration processes activated both on the tangible and intangible level of the landscape, to multifunctionality, accessibility and transgenerational and multispecific inclusiveness, and to the adaptation of urban open spaces to climate change as an essential component of the ecological transition process of the contemporary development model.
