The course introduces basic principles of archaeology in fragile contexts
and analyses case studies on the safeguarding of cultural—especially
archaeological—heritage in conflict zones. Students acquire tools to
understand intervention types and timelines, operational models, and the
role of local communities in heritage protection and valorization.

No prerequisites are required. The course is intended for students
interested in working on cultural heritage safeguarding, recovery, and
valorization projects, especially in international and post-conflict
contexts.
