The course mainly has a theoretical-methodological content. It provides the basic concepts of evaluation as a scientific discipline and outlines the characteristics of the decision-making processes of the architectural and urban design. It also provides a brief critical excursus of the most widespread evaluation techniques used in the intervention of physical transformation of the territory at different scales (from the building to the city).

Main evaluation techniques

The course aims to provide the student with the basic logic of the scientific evaluation which is necessary for the architect as the coordinator of the decision-making process of the architectural design and urban plan. The course also aims to provide some basic critical knowledge on the operation and use of the most common evaluation techniques in the field of architectural design and urban planning.


Teaching method

According  to the theoretical and methodological nature of the course, lectures are the main teaching method but, the presentation of some practical examples it is also possible.

Learning verification

The exams are individual and consist of an oral interview covering ALL the topics included in the program and in the bibliography.
