Assignment week 11
Assignment week 11
Next week is our last 'official' lesson
As I told you in class, I will be online during our usual lesson time for the 2 weeks after lessons finish (between 17-27th May) and before the exam on the 3rd June, for you to 'drop in' to discuss your presentations or just ask me any clarifications you need. These are not mandatory lessons, but only for students who need advice/suggestions.
These are the 8 steps to follow in order to prepare your presentation - for next week you should have a general outline of how you are going to organise your speech, how you are going to divide it up on the slides and you should have a general idea if your speech and your slides correspond and you are able to keep to the 5 minutes. So don't spend too much time yet refining either your speech or your slides as you may realise that you will have to cut/add material.
- choose one of the topics from the google doc uploaded here
- do your research
- organise your content (follow outlines of presentation topics I have given you in a coherent and logical way)
- prepare your slides (templates, not too much writing, concept diagrams, pictures etc.); try out canva to create slides: https://www.canva.com if you don't like powerpoint!
- organise/prepare your speech (keep the rubric in mind!)
- time your speech (5 minutes!)
- once you are satisfied with your slides and speech - REHEARSE REHEARSE REHEARSE (remember you are not allowed to read during the exam)
- last but not least: video record yourself!
- I must be able to recognize your face in the video (pay attention to dark rooms etc.)
- You must look into the camera of your computer so it seems you are looking at me
- You MUST NOT read, so you must practice your speech lots of times; pay attention to fluency (not too fast but not too slow and hesitant), accuracy, specialized vocabulary, wordstress.
