Learning Outcomes. To provide the tools for the characterization, also with new technologies, and the modelling, also through a distributed hydrologic model of hydrologic processes at watershed and hillslope scales, with in depth reference to soil moisture dynamics, the flood runoff formation for the purpose of assessing the impacts of climate and land use changes.

Contents. Remote sensing of hydrologic variables. Water and energy balance of soil-vegetation-atmosphere system. Hydrologic modeling. Hydrologic predictions.

The Course introduce to Geology, the Earth system and its dynamics over time. Main topics are: Llithogenetic processes: igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks;  The rocks over time: basic principles of stratigraphy; The rocks in space: geological structures and reading geological maps.

This course provides the knowledge in the areas of natural hazards, soil and rock mechanics, site investigation and monitoring , hydrogeology, landslides and engineering works in order to train experts  of monitoring, design and management for geohydrological risk reduction.

Geomorphological processes, summary and operational examples with exercises.

 Definition of geomorphological hazard parameters.

Hazard analysis and construction of hazard maps for application purposes using statistical systems. Application of GIS and calculation tools for hazard definition.  Hydrographic network dynamics, general fundamentals and in-depth study of quantitative geomorphic analysis and its connections to slope evolution. Soil erosion. Causes, effects, analysis and available tools. Analysis of landforms and digital mapping.
