The course aims to provide the detailed theoretical background and the required tools for the comprehension of the nature of the turbulence in atmosphere, its effects on the propagation of electromagnetic fields (typically wavefronts in the visible and infrared) and the compensation techniques aimed at correcting the optical aberrations introduced by the optical turbulence. This is strictly related to our ability in performing ground-based observations.
The structure and details about the course are in the UniFi Course Catalogue here.
The student at the end of the course will acquire all the required skills to undertake a thesis, stages and research activity in the field.
