This course is an introduction to theory and applications of longitudinal data analysis: event-history analysis (also known as survival analysis, hazard regression, intensity regression, or duration data analysis) and panel data analysis. Longitudinal data are commonly used to address many research questions in demography and, more generally, in social sciences. This course covers univariate and multivariate (regression) methods for analysis of longitudinal data, including their recent developments. Students also learn data management skills that are specific to apply longitudinal data analysis in STATA. Special attention is given to provide the students with theoretical, methodological, and analytical insights to conduct a quantitative study: how to use techniques of longitudinal data analysis to address a substantive socio-demographic research question?
