Dear all,
last week we had a council meeting. I resume here some of the deliberations which might have an impact on your PhD course:

  • Suggestions are extremely welcome for the new web page of the PhD program. It looks like the old one, but now it is based on Wordpress and we can change it much more easily
  • Some PhD students have been authorized to participate to Schools and Conferences with the financial support of the PhD program. When returning to their lab, they are required to provide a one page summary of some important topic connected with their travel. E.g., an abstract (with links and photos) of a specially significant presentation, an abstract (enriched with links) of their presentation, ....  This will be very welcome also from other students, traveling on generic funds, but it is required in particular for those who are using PhD funds
  • The council decided to give 1 CFU to all students who present in the internal PhDinfo seminar series (this has been extended also to those who already gave their presentation)
  • The technological library of Unifi has prepared an on line course on the usage of bibliographic resources. You can find it at https://e-l.unifi.it/course/search.php?search=dottorandi+ingegneria . The council decided to credit 1CFU to those attending and completing this course
  • New courses will be offered soon, mainly from professors coming from abroad. Consult the web site and the official calendar to see updated offerings
  • There will be 3 additional courses offered by the Department within the "Tuscan Startup Academy" program. The schedule and detailed program will be available as soon as possible. The courses will be:

  • Cyber Physical Systems: affidabilità e dependability, 30 hours -  Prof. Alessandro Fantechi, Dott. Ing. Lorenzo Ciani;

Cyber Physical Security, 30 hours -  Dott. Ing. Tommaso Pecorella;

Tecnologie abilitanti per I4.0: ottimizzazione e intelligenza artificiale, 30 hours -  Prof. Fabio Schoen, Prof. Marco Sciandrone

Some of you have not yet commented on our survey on the PhDinfo seminar series - please react soon!

Best wishes for the next holidays,
